Outfit Love

Well everything about this outfit just makes me smile! And I feel like it screams fall, but still cool enough for how stinking hot it will still be for a while. Lemme lay it all out there for ya...
 Earrings: Nickel and Suede.
Shirt: Old Navy.
Shorts: Wal-Mart. (Y'all! These shorts are jersey fabric and they are life. changing. Even though they are out of stock I still posted the link because I am soooo hoping they restock these!)
Necklace: Kohl's.
Sunglasses: Old Navy (These are my favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite FAVORITE. I feel like sunglasses very rarely fit my face well, but these ones do. It's a miracle! So I bought like 8 pairs. Because sunglasses break or get sat on or whatever so easily).
Shoes: Burlington Coat Factory! For $30 - can't even handle this amazing dupe! Check out the pair that many fashion bloggers have been linking here...$159?! I am just so beyond happy with this amazing find! #saved129dollars #booyah #didijustsaybooyah

I love me some cute fashion. And this outfit reminds me of my fav transitional fall outfit from last year, here. Cuteness! :)

Target Stroll for the Soul

I'd like to copyright that phrase right now! ;) But for real, sometimes all you need is a little stroll through Target to envigorate your spirits. Last night on my stroll I decided to document some of my favorite finds. Let's do this!

Oh Knox Rose, how you speak to speak to my soul, every. Single. Time. If you are into bohemian, billowy, peasant top style, then Target's Knox Rose like is for you! I just can't. It's all so cute.

This is the first top that caught my eye. Love! Link here. I'm actually a little bit shocked that I didn't throw it in the cart. So cute!
I would love this dress with a jean jacket or  an open chambray button up.
I am a SUCKER for anything embroidered.
Check out the details on this dress!!
 So so pretty.
Alright, onto the baby/toddler section. Definitely my favorite section of the store!

I mean, are you freaking kidding me?! That fur vest?! #dying. I searched Target.com and it doesn't look like it's up yet! Lame. Get it up there Target! :)

This little outfit! 😍😍😍
So I'm not usually an overall person for my babies but that striped yellow shirt and the little bulldozer on it?! I die!
 Adorableness! Here.
The dress that comes with the romper!
This white eyelet dress is so sweet! Here.
Okay, gingham and a Peter pan collar TOGETHER?! Ummm... SO MUCH YES! Link here.
Anyone who knows me well knows that mustard yellow is the color of my heart. Love these!! Find the cute tank top here.
I love this pretty top so much! Here.
Such a fun pop of pretty plumb purple!
Such a fun skirt! Find it here.
I just had to take a pic of this whole display because holy cuteness.
Well, on last night's Target stroll I didn't make it to any of the home decor aisles, which is an abomination, but I'll be honest, it's because I was hungry and Taco Bell was calling my name. #hadtogettherebeforeitclosed #cheesygorditacrunch

Target stroll for the soul...I like that. I think I'll document it next time too!

Nickel and Suede Love

I am just as obsessed as ever with Nickel and Suede. I got brave enough to try the large size in the Champagne Shimmer earrings and I am in LOVE! I usually stick to medium but now I'm pretty sure I'll always order large! #can'tgetenoughoftheseearrings
And then Jared surprised me with this Gold Cuff for Mother's Day! I am just living in this leather beautifulness these days and I wanted to share it with you. :)
I'm just so in love with these!! 😍
I literally wear the Champaigne Shimmer with EVERYTHING! #obsessed #beobsessedwithme #nickelandsuedestyle

Sometimes You Gotta Drive Like Cruella DeVille

I feel like Cruella DeVille could be the source of a ridiculous amount of hysterical memes. Like seriously I could probably spend all night making them. But here is the one I actually did make. Because me. #alwayslate #drivelikecruella
                😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Valentine's Day Vignette

I love Valentine's Day. And while I don't go all out while decorating for it, I do love to do a little something. This is my Valentine's Day vignette from last year. All the heart eyes!!! So cute right?
The wreath is from JoAnn, and both of the framed art are from Hobby Lobby. I made the curtains out of some adorable fabric from Hobby Lobby. That store...I just can't get enough.

I mean, I just love this! If it weren't for the fact that we've moved since last year, I would recreate this exact vignette for next week! Love, love, love.

Chocolate Frosted Devil's Food Cake Mix Cookies

I had Cub Scouts tonight and our amazing den leader, Gwen, asked if I would bring cookies for our "Who Stole the Cookies From the Cookie Jar" activity. (The boys got to examine fingerprints from several suspects to determine who stole the cookies - it was so much fun! Gwen is AMAZING). Before I get into the recipe, here's a picture of the delicious beauts. I'll be honest - these turned out WAY better than I was expecting them to. #thesecookiesaremynewbestfriend #ormaybemynewworstenemy
So I knew I had to make or buy cookies, but being the homebody that I have become this winter (we have had 7 snow days and multiple 2 hour delays - we have been BURIED in snow) I never made it to the store. I would've needed to buy chocolate chips to make my go-to-last-second-but-delicious cookies - Devil's Food Cake Mix Chocolate Chip cookies. I bought a bag of semisweet chocolate chips like a month ago to have on hand for this recipe, but of course I straight up ate the whole bag. #goals :) So without the chocolate chips I knew those cookies would be worthless. #honesty

I decided to look at some of the cookie recipes I had on my pinterest board and see what my options were. I came across this delicious looking recipe for Texas Sheet cake cookies from Cookies and Cups and had almost all the ingredients, but not all that I needed. Which was sad, because they looked amaze. Then I realized, I did have all the ingredients to make the devil's food cookies (minus the chocolate chips of course) and all the ingredients to make the frosting from the Texas sheet cake cookie recipe. So I combined them! And like I said, amaze.
My little cutie girl helped me make these and her and I are now a LITTLE obsessed with them. She couldn't stop begging for them all afternoon and I couldn't stop sneaking them when she wasn't looking.

For years I've always used a recipe my mom gave me for Devil's Food Cake Mix cookies, that I'm pretty sure she got off the back of a cake mix box. I haven't been able to find the hard copy of that recipe for FOREVER so I've been looking to this recipe at Fun With the Fullwoods when I've been making these the past few years. It's identical to the one my mom always uses. Even though the ingredient list is so small, I still don't have this recipe memorized! #aintnevergonnahappen #becauseme

After I put the cookies in the oven Sis and I whipped up a batch of the frosting from the Cookies and Cups recipe. I was a half cup short on powdered sugar, but I thought the frosting still tasted delightful, so the recipe I'm listing reflects that. But OF COURSE you can never have enough powdered sugar so by all means go by the original recipe! :) Texas Sheet Cake Cookies by Shelly at Cookies and Cups HERE and Devil's Food Cake Mix Cookies by Brittany at Fun With the Fullwoods HERE. For kinda winging it I think these cookies turned out amazing!!

CHOCOLATE FROSTED DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE MIX COOKIES
Makes 25 cookies
Ingredients
For the Cookies:
Devil's Food cake mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
For the Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
2 tbsp. cocoa powder
3 tbsp. milk
2 cups powdered sugar
Directions
Mix the cake mix, vegetable oil and eggs together thoroughly, then, using a small cookie scoop, place the dough in balls on your Silpat (LOVE mine!) or on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 12-14 minutes. It's definitely better to err on the side of underdone, because you can always throw them back in the oven for longer if needed! While the cookies are baking, use a small saucepan to whip up your frosting! Over medium heat, combine butter, cocoa powder and milk. After combined and stirred together well, remove from heat and add your powdered sugar. Mix it well and you're done! Drizzle that delicious frosting all over your cookies! Enjoy, and gain 5 pounds. You're welcome! :)

The cookies were a big hit with the scouts. And my kids. And me. And thank goodness they're gone. :) Hope you love these as much as we do!

Spray Painted Dinosaur Birthday Cake

When I asked little sister what kind of birthday cake she wanted this year, all she said was "Dinosaur cake". My creative juices started flowing, and at first I wanted to spray paint a "long-neck" dinosaur. I couldn't find one with the shape and size that I liked, so I ended up using a dinosaur we already had laying around.
I spray painted it gold and I just love how it turned out!
Sister loved it too, which is what really matters!
We have a birthday tradition in our family where the birthday boy or girl goes out to a special dinner with daddy at whichever restaurant they want to. Here they are headed out on their special date to McDonald's! Her face kills me! #allthecuteness
I just love this little lady. And just for the record, we're all about princesses and Minnie Mouse and all that other overly girly stuff, but how freaking cool is she because she chose a dinosaur theme for her cake?! She rocks. :) She's our spunky girl who has huge heart, and I just adore her! :)

Daniel Tiger Birthday Cake

On my little guy's last birthday, he wanted a Daniel Tiger cake. So I took to the interwebs to find some ideas and inspiration. Here's my Daniel Tiger cake pinterest board. As you can see - such cute options! I printed out pictures of the three that I thought I could handle and hung them up in the kitchen. I mulled them over and let my little birthday boy help decide which one we should do. We chose to do this one - mad props and thanks to whoever made this cake!! It is adorable and was super fun to try my hand at recreating. :)

And OH MY GOODNESS it turned out darling!!! This was almost a year ago and I'm still so excited about it. And the birthday boy was LOVED it! Oh and I have to say, it tasted out of this world too! Here is the recipe for the frosting, and I'm pretty sure we just used a yellow cake mix.
Umm, ADORABLE, right?!

Here's my little helper modeling with his cake partway through. I kind of liked the simplicity of it with just the yellow and red dots! But this little dude wanted to do as many colors of dots as possible (he helped put the dots on), so we did, and oh my I think it turned out so stinking cute.
The Daniel Tiger figurines were early birthday presents that I bought just for the cake, and the little man was THRILLED! :)

He had a fun friend party a few weeks before his birthday, since on his actual birthday we would be in Texas for Thanksgiving. I asked him if he wanted his Daniel Tiger cake at his friend party or family party, and he chose friend party. Here are the party animals! :)
Aren't they the cutest? And I must say, that cake is pretty cute too! I wonder the little dude will want for his cake this year...can't wait!

Transitional Fall Outfit For the Win

So I put this outfit together and wrote this post like a month ago, aaaaand I'm just now posting it. #becausethatshowiroll. So when you read about 80 degree weather (it's more like high 60's now), the start of the school year, blah blah blah, and it's not making any sense, that's why. :) BUT, the outfit below really was the perfect summer-to-fall transitional outfit! #youcanthankmenextfall ;)

With the start of a new school year comes the official start of fall, at least in my mind. :) I'm ready for baggy sweaters and lots of layers, but it's still almost 80 degrees outside. What the what?!

I feel like no matter what season we are in I am just never wearing what I should be to either stay warm enough or cool enough. In March if I see one ray of sunshine I break out the sun dresses and flip flops, and I'll be freezing by 8:05 am. In early September (much like this past week) I see one gray cloud and I just know it will be a chilly, gloomy, perfect fall day. And by 9:30 I'm sweating out of my cardigan and layers. I think I'm just a little overzealous sometimes at the start of a new season. :)

I found this darling top at Goodwill this summer and I feel like it is the PERFECT transitional piece for fall. Short sleeves, but with that awesome plaid print and the dark blue. It makes me want to jump on the back of a wagon and enjoy me a hayride. :) (Check! We've done that since originally writing this post - LOL).
So this is what I wore on Saturday, and let me tell you, the jeans were pushing it - it's just too hot to wear ANYTHING! But I'm loving this outfit. :) Maybe next week it'll have cooled down a tad and I can throw on my boots instead of the flip flops. Then the week after that put on a scarf instead of a necklace. Holy cow, transitional piece for the win.  Who am I?! Maybe I will survive this fall without looking like a total moron. #bootswhenits90degreesoutside #shortsonwhenitshailing #ineedtostartcheckingtheweatherreportonthedaily

Shirt: Goodwill (Old Navy); Earrings: Nickel and Suede (HERE); Necklace: Nordstrom (HERE); Flip Flops: Target; Jeans: Old Navy (HERE); Watch: Impressive Trends via Jane (It was only $2.99! Yes I ordered like 5 colors...:) (Oh and HERE is the watch for $9.99)
Ahh, this cute outfit is killing me. Love it. Well, it's October now and fall is officially in full swing, cooler weather and all. I love me some fall and I definitely love fall fashion. YAY! :)

Aunties Are the Best Kind of People

Aunties really are the best kind of people to have in your life. They love unconditionally. They don't judge. And they accept. Really accept. So this is a tribute to all those aunties out there, and especially to the ones who constantly enrich the lives of my children. :)
Dear Auntie,

You are irreplaceable in my children's lives. They adore you and so do I! You are one of a kind and so needed by each of my three babies. Words can't adequately describe how much your auntiness means to our family, but I'm going to try. :)
Auntie, you may be my sister, my sister-in-law, my cousin, my college roommate or one of my best friends, sometimes a few of those wrapped in one. Some of you I've known for my whole life (I'm looking at you big sis!:), and some of you I've known for your whole life (I'm looking at you little sis!:). And most of you I've known for only a small fraction of that time. But no matter how long you've been in our lives, you have made a true impact on my sweet kiddos. Each of you aunties lead entirely different lives than the other aunties that love my kids, and you show your auntie love in vastly different ways. You are each so special and appreciated far more than I think you could ever really comprehend.
The aunts I grew up with played an irreplaceable role in my spiritual, emotional, and physical development - each were there for me at different times, in different ways, unique situations from each other, and I will forever be grateful. It warms my heart to see the same thing happening in the lives of my kids with this new generation of aunties - I know you will be the same positive influence in the lives of my kiddos as they grow up, just as my aunts were in mine. I am already so grateful for the years you've loved my kids already, and I'm looking ahead at the years to come with a grateful heart.
So aunties, this one's for you. :)
Thank you for absolutely adoring your niece and nephews and for truly believing that they hung the moon. I can always count on you to think that everything my children do is outrageously adorable and hilarious and you just know they're going to do something big someday. You are always thinking of them and sending me messages of things you saw or searched out that made you think of them each individually. They are always on your mind and I have a feeling they are always in your prayers. How lucky are they to have these built in, lifelong cheerleaders in their aunties?!
Thank you for loving my children for who they are. Thank you for loving them like your own. Thank you for accepting them and loving them unconditionally. Thank you for encouraging them, praising them and genuinely believing in them. Their eyes light up and their little souls just glow at your praise for them. Each and every time you come to see us or we come to see you, seeing their auntie never disappoints - you are absolutely one of their very favorite people. Thank you for making them feel like a million bucks every. single. time. you see them and for making them feel like they are the most special niece or nephew in the whole entire world! Thank you for not judging them or limiting your love for them based on anything they might do or say. You see that they are little and learning and figuring out life.:)
Thank you for teaching them all about the gospel, the world we live in, how to be a good person, how to have fun and how to choose the right. Thank you for being an example to them of what a kind, faithful, loving, charitable, hardworking, enduring, gracious, fun-loving and righteous person looks like. Thank you for dressing them up in silly outfits and taking a million pictures. Thank you for playing with them tirelessly and making them giggle endlessly. Whatever silly games they want to play, you're always up for it! Wrestling, tennis, Oregon Trail, they name it, you're game. Their smiles mean the world to me, and the joy they feel is tangible when their auntie is around. :)
Thank you for the tickle fights, the endless stream of YouTube videos that drain your phone or computer battery, and for playing them the same songs over and over again (if you are at all annoyed by the repetition of their favorite songs/videos you never show it!). Thank you for the presents. The ones that are homemade, the ones you agonize over for months hoping to choose perfectly, and the ones you buy spontaneously because you spotted them and just knew your nephew or niece would get a kick out of them. Thank you for making their birthdays special. Thank you for all of the special treats. Thank you for letting them destroy your house, your room and your stuff whenever we come to stay, and for not hating us for it! We try our best to always make it up to you. :)
Thank you for the handmade Christmas ornaments and for continually adding to their ducky collection. Thank you for the hand painted art that your nephew now treasures, and for making your niece feel like the most important little girl on earth. Thank you for the brown polka dot blanket you gave your newborn baby nephew, that in the years to come became his very best friend! Thank you for the outings to pool parties,  Chick-fil-A, the movies and the park. Just a quick trip around the block with you in your car would be enough to make them feel like royalty, but you always squeeze some sort of outing in beyond that. You are vital and so needed in the lives of my babies.
But, it doesn't stop there.

Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for not judging my failures but instead supporting me and cheering me on. It's often what I need most! Auntie, thank you for being one of my best friends. For listening to me, laughing with me, making me laugh out loud and making me feel like the world's best mother even when I know I fall extremely short. Your praise and encouragement mean the world to me and let me know I'm doing a better job than I think I am, and that what I do every day for these kiddos is everything to them. Thank you for the advice and, again, the listening ear. Because of you, some of the hardest mommy times have been brightened and I look back on those times you listened, and the hope you held and how you just knew things would work out, and in each of those little situations, they have. You believe in my little kiddos and you also believe in me, and oh what a difference that makes!

Thank you for the french toast after I had your little nephew (that hospital food was just horrible!), and thank you for the letter you wrote me after I had your niece and was going through the most emotionally and mentally trying time of my life, and thank you for coming to be with me and your niece and nephew when I was anxious and overwhelmed so I didn't have to be alone (and for taking my mind off of life's stresses with The Bachelor! ;). Thank you for your potty training tips and encouragement and laughs. Thank you for making your nephew lunch when I was too sick (while pregnant with your cute niece) to do anything but lay around and beg you to do stuff for me. ;) Thank you for gushing over each and every picture of your niece and nephews that I post to facebook or text you personally. Thank you for praying for me as I take on all this mommy business. I love you and I trust your advice and input on the raising of these precious kiddos, and I appreciate you so much.

Aunties, as I said before, you are each incredibly unique and play a different role in my children's lives and you each bring something different to the auntie table. Some of you have children of your own and some of you do not. Some of you only get to see your sweet nephews and niece but once or twice a year, some far more often, some far less. But always remember and never forget, that my babies are your babies and you love them in a special auntie way that, simply put, I cannot. I couldn't do this mommying thing without you. It truly does take a village and somehow Jared and I ended up with the most rock solid village/squad in the world. :)
Thank you for being you - we love and appreciate you more than you could ever know. You, auntie, are the perfect aunt for our babies. To quote the ever classic Dragon Warrior, "There is no secret ingredient", and that's true for being an auntie too. There is no special recipe or secret ingredient to being the best auntie ever - it's just you. :) Whether you know it or not, you really are the very best kind of person, and we adore you.

Love,

Brittany, Jared, and Three of Your Favorite Tiny People :)

(Now come visit! You all live much too far away and we are in dire need of some auntie time!!! I'll pay half your plane ticket?? Pretty please!;)
